Meet me in St. Louis!

Today we visited the "Jefferson National Expansion Memorial" otherwise known as the St. Louis Gateway Arch the gateway to the West! Don and the girls traveled 630 feet to the top of the arch (Kim visited the gift shop =) We toured the Museum of Westward Expansion where Kimberly and Christiana earned their Jr. Ranger badges. We really enjoyed learning about the "peace medals." We watched a great movie about the West which made us very excited for the rest of our journey.

Next it was off to the Mississippi River and a tour on the "Tom Sawyer" river boat. We posed for pictures at the "Lewis and Clark" statue on the banks of the Mississippi, the exact spot they returned to after their exploration of the West.

After touring downtown St. Louis, we enjoyed yummy ice cream at Ted Drewes famous custard stand on historic Route 66! After driving around the beautiful parks and campus of Washington University, we found another St. Louis tradition - thin crust pizza at Imo's (pronounced Emos by the natives) very thin and very good!

Tomorrow we are off to Colorado. It will be a very long day of driving so if you think of it, say a prayer for our car ride.
