Idaho - not just for potatoes!

We had a BLAST in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho! Lava Hot Springs is part of the metropolitan area of Pocatello, Idaho. The population according to the 2000 census was 521 - it's a tiny place. Info from our faithful Wikipedia notes that it is "located in the mountainous valley of the Portneuf River the old route of the Oregon Trail and California Trail, the city has become a popular resort location, noted for its numerous hot springs."
What did we do? We went tubing on the white water of the Portneuf River! It was freezing and fun! We rented three man tubes and set -off for adventure on the River. No guides, no life jackets, we just followed the crowd! The tube consisting of Don, Kimberly and Kendall was a bit more adventures and tubed down a 3-4' waterfall. The tube buddies of Kim, Corinne and Christiana had enough adventure without the waterfall! The river was exciting, the fact that it was freezing made us scream more than the white water! After we rode the river for two hours, we headed to the hot springs. The natural hot springs had temperatures ranging from 104 to 112 degrees. After the freezing water in the river, it took a little time to get use to the hot temps but once we did it was relaxing and a nice break before our drive to Wyoming.

Don graciously gave up the last run on the river to take pictures. Kimberly and Kendall traded-in for a two man tube, and we headed down the river, along with some other folks who will appear in our picts. =)

Heading for a little waterfall

Fun, fun, fun!!! Off to Wyoming! Cowboy country here we come!
