Kimberly was very surprised that her grandparents were driving all the way from New Jersey for the tea, especially since it was held on the day of their 49th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Mensah made a beautiful cake for the event - it was very yummy!
First Kimberly read her story, and then she honored both of her grandparents. To Pop: Thank you for coming to important events in my life and for coming to sporting events too. It means a lot to me that you are here today. To Grandma: Thank you for always being caring and generous to me and my sisters. Happy Anniversary, I love you so much!
Pop My grandfather just wanted to race, but what happened was amazing. When my grandfather was just 15 years old he went to talk to the head coach of the track team. He asked if he could race in the one mile. The coach said to talk to the seniors and they said to just follow them. After they heard the shot of the gun they were off. After they started the others were running too slow and my grandfather won his first race ever. His freshmen year he won the Century Jersey Championship Group 3. In his sophomore year he won the Mammouth County Championship. And in his last year of racing he won the Ocean City Championship, the Mammouth County Championship, and the Century Jersey Championship Group3. My grandfather held the record for the fastest time in the one mile for twenty-five years! That record was 4:42. My Pop's lesson is: when in doubt try something new.
Mrs. Griney held the event in honor of her mom. Thank you Denise for your example of serving and caring for others and for leading our students in honoring their Grandparents. Thank you Pop and Grandma for spending your special day with us! We love you!
